What To Look For When Hiring An Eco Interior Designer

I have been out of the loop due to some health issues and thankfully I'm finally on a road to recovery and getting back to my passion of Eco design and painting.

I have been going through emails and phone calls I have received with regards to recommendations for Eco interior Designers.

Here are some suggestions I have that hopefully will help you in your process of looking for an Eco Designer.
  •   An interior designer should be licensed, especially if you are planning any kind of construction projects.
  •  You should check out their website or blog and see if they have listed all of their credentials and or Eco and sustainable partnerships.
  • Do they have an Eco statement and any Eco sustainable credentials indicating that they have been audited and verified as an ECO company for example: Leed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional.
  • What are the resources that they are using when purchasing Eco and sustainable products? where do they come from are they recycled what process is used in the recycling of the product if this is important for you to know.
  •  Most important are references, references, references.
  •  Their body of work showcasing their Eco designs of previous clients.
  •  Their knowledge base on Eco products, options are they current on information of new  Eco innovations, products, organizations.
  • Do you and the designer have a good chemistry together.  Remember you are the client and should always come first and is the designer really listening to your needs and wants.
You can click on the tab above at All Things Eco Green where I have a few listings for Eco Interior Designer.  This is a work in progress as I come across new Interior decorating firms I will be posting them as updates and there are some great articles as well on Eco Design.

Below is a website that list Eco Credentials - LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional), US Green Building Council.   It is an example of what you should be looking for.  These are suggestions that could help you in your process if you are new to the Eco Way of life.
